In moments of great stress, panic and anxiety we can start to lose our perspective and our problems start to take over everything in our mind, sometimes completely overwhelming us. The world can start to spiral and negative thoughts compound which can sometimes take days to overcome. Using our own self awareness we can start to see these spikes coming and put things in place to distract ourselves. A quick method to widen our perspective is to try and ground ourselves in reality. Engage our mind with the real world around us. Grounding is a well established technique for doing this and using our senses can be a quick easy way of achieving this when you really need it.
